All humour aside, Kirhara is an interesting character. While I think many of the pretty boys can get bland at times, Kirihara is an exception [in my eyes] to that trend. I find his character more interesting in the anime, but either portrait, anime or manga, he still peaks everyones' interest (well, mine at least). A couple adjectives of him before I begin this section: Aggressive, prideful, proud, arrogant, overconfident, has anger issues, and when not on the tennis court, a cheerful person. His ambition is something you can't miss in the series - note the red-eyes mode he has when he's angry. That's how much his thirst for winning shows through.
It's obvious that Kirihara does not care about the game of tennis itself (but I swear, he's just as passionate as everyone else), nor his opponent - it's the matter of winning or losing that he cares so much about. Not that winning isn't a nice part about playing a tennis match, but it's evident that this is the way that Kirihara chooses to play. He knocks out his opponents in under 20 minutes to: 1) Show off (Rikkaidai has so many tennis members in their club that its hard to distinguish, and this makes Kirihara stand out) and for 2) prideful reasons. You know, Rikkai's phrase, "ALWAYS WIN, RIKKAIDAI" is not just for show. They mean it.
He's proud of his abilities. They don't call him the "Junior ace" for nothing. He's got alot of skill to show off, and proudly shows it off as much as possible. Though, he doesn't hold back when he's angry (yes, he has some serious anger issues he needs to deal with). The moment someone takes him by surprise, or he finds himself in some sort of trouble [during a tennis match], he'll react immediately with violence. It's not that he's out to kill people (which it seems like he does), he just wants to win. And thus, his eyes turn all red and creepy. It would seem he wants bragging rights to many things - skill, power, and most of all, fear. He's feared by players across Kanto. He's no ordinary kid, either. He will seemingly take any amount of risk (no matter how much it makes him look bad) to find a way to win, and usually... his ways are effective. *cough Like injuring you opponent so that they may either default or break a limb or two cough*
Not alot of players in Tenipuri and overly aggressive like Kirihara is. Kirihara just seems to lash out anything he can to get his advantage in the match. As a player with this kind of personality, he is a jewel among the Rikkaidai team. He can play singles much better than he can doubles, and his skills proved to be some of the best in Kanto when selected for the Junior tournament against America. Kirihara knows how to step up his game while he's moving during a match; it shows his quick thinking and high concentration traits.
When Kirihara isn't on the court, his demeanor is usually animated, vivacious, and ambitious towards his goals. Like almost every outspoken character in Tenipuri, he shares the common trait they all have: arrogance/overconfidence. He's not afraid to speak up and potentially try to scare any of his opponents before meeting them on the court. When it comes to tennis, he as a solid opinion on many teams, like Fudomine, for instance. He loves to belittle other teams verbally to other people/players. He also thinks he's a very cool person to hang around. Alot of people (and characters of Tenipuri) beg to differ, but I personally enjoy watching him trying to define "cool."
